Hello I was just wondering how do I go about updating the news section on the main page? I tried to do it via editing the main page but couldn't find an option to do so. Also today I will be updating the wiki with new graphics and a colour change that me and my friend have been working on, hopefully that's alright, we just thought it was time the wiki got a bit of a facelift so to speak.
On the main page (https://gwent.fandom.com/wiki/Gwent_Wiki) there is a side scrolling object. It starts with 'Most Recent Patch Notes 0.9.24' before automatically moving to a new slide after a certain time has elapsed. Obviously this isn't the most recent patch, so I was wondering how do I interact with that object to update the slides.
Do you mean that you'd like an RSS feed? I can do that, or show you how. Normally that goes on the right rail. The slider should be removed and your Factions section should move up to replace it. (Sliders are so 1990's)
Hello you mentioned if I was interested in the positon of admin for this wiki. I would have wrote sooner but I've been quite busy at work recently. I would like to take over as an admin (the bureaucrat role would be good too as we don't have anyone active with that role either and I believe I'd need that to make new admins?), but not sure if I'd be accepted? As for Juraj I spoke to him about a week ago which may have caused him to appear active, he said he isn't interested in contributing to the wiki as he doesn't have time and I doubt he will do any admin work. The main reason I'd like the role is so I can start redesigning and restructuring the main page, that'll be the main thing people see and it gives off the wrong impression to immediately see clearly outdated info. Anyway let me know what your thoughts are, cheers.
Hello, I wanted to talk about the number of articles that are currently under protection from edits. In particular there are many such as leaders and various cards which I am unable to edit and bring up to date due to this. Is it possible to remove these restrictions? I think the chance of them encountering wiki vandalism is very low. On a related note is it somehow possible to run a code that will access a database and update the cardpool? Editing each manually could take some time.
I have removed the protection from the vast majority of pages. The Main Page and all those that cascade from it are still protected as per standard procedure. Let me know if you run into any pages that are still locked down.
I have no idea how they were updating the Card data. It looks like the few that are in there were added by User:Xyclone010 last October, so you might ask them how they planned on doing updates.
I have merged the two pages so that the edit history was preserved. Please check and make sure nothing is amiss. The protection has also been removed. If you want the page to be named Glossary, just rename it and it should leave a redirect behind.
Thank you, I shall do that. On a unrelated note you may have noticed the many recent updates being done to the wiki. It seems my post on Reddit worked well and we got a lot of new people willing to help out and edit which is great news.
Hello I wanted to discuss the situation of the Gwent wiki. For a while now it's been in need of a severe update. A lot of the infomation is outdated and is based on a much older state of the game. Many graphics are also outdated or misleading. I would like to revamp it myself but there is a lot of work involved for one person and my knowledge when it comes to wiki editing is mainly just altering text.
What powers do you have exactly as a wiki manager? I do know lots of people who are interested in improving the wiki, but since they've been unable to contact any admins they have been put off.
I offered to let User:Bizippo adopt the wiki (mostly based on your recommendation), but they have not replied yet. I'm here to help the wiki and its editors if they have any issues. I can act as an admin until one is chosen, but I'd like to see some effort put into the wiki before I hand out admin privileges. So it seems we have a bit of a chicken-or-the-egg problem.
Please spread the word to those you believe are interested in improving the wiki. If we build a community of editors, then they can nominate someone to become admin.
For sure, I'll let some people know and hopefully we can sort something out. It'd be good to keep things updated, I may be able to promote a post on the Gwent Reddit as well asking for volenteers. Thanks for your help :)
